Creativity

I've always liked Arts & Crafts. My mom always says she wishes she had put me in Art class or art school when I was younger because I had such a great interest in it and I was good at it. I liked to draw and do crafts with paper and colour...etc. But what is great is I still enjoying doing those things and they have come in handy now for things such as birthdays and baby-showers etc. I love making DIY decorations for Ellu and Elkanah's birthdays and just spending my time planning it and imagining what it will look like makes me happy. I offered to make some posters and decorations for Hilina's Baby Shower since it will be a drive-by shower due to covid but in the process I learned how to make paper flowers. All this flower making "movement" has inspired me to continue in my creativity and further develop it by making more flowers, larger and various types, in addition to butterflies and prepare them for Elkanah's 2nd birthday decor...

Green Thumb

So today, I actually got to do one thing that I've been wanting to do for a very long time....gardening!!! Actually, I began last week, where after mother's day I convinced Neguissie to buy me a flower (while he was shopping at the Manotick Giant Tiger) and I was on a mission to start my garden and plant flowers in our front lawn. Today, I finally had the opportunity to head over to a garden center (though not the best one, at Independent Barrhaven) since they barely had much choice, but I did buy a few that I liked and after I put the kids to sleep at 8pm, it was still nice and sunny out so I started to dig :). I must say, I am content with what I was able to accomplish. Much room to grow, but a good start. Update: June 9th So my garden is looking pretty good and I’m sooo excited that the roses are finally blooming!!

Andrew Hayden Park

Andrew Haydon Park has been our go-to park during this quarantine, once city parks were open to the public. Its nice, not as crowded, not too many playstructures for the kids to be tempted by, and clean and has a nice scenery. Lots of green space and overall very nice. Ellu loves to take his scooter and ride it there, and if we go with Neguissie, we will bring our blankets and sit on the grass. Always a great place for nice photos too!

El-Ka-Na

One thing about Elkanah, if you don't already know, is that she is determined! If she wants it, she will find a way to get it...or cry/scream until you give it to her lol. She is determined, and she will not take NO for an answer. And she loves the camera. That's why I haven't been as successful in taking as many photos of her as I did with Ellu, because once she sees the camera, its pretty much out of my hands and into hers :):). She's the boss!

Brotherly Love

I think this photo pretty much sums it up. The love these two have for one-another is a sight not to be missed. It is really a blessing to see how much Ellu loves his little sister and cares for her. He waits for her to wake up from sleeping (sometimes even wakes her up so she can play with him), they share a room :) and he does take care of her. He doesn't like to see her get hurt or have other people make her cry.  Don't get me wrong, they fight very often, especially over toys and Ellu does like to make her cry by taking her toys away or frightening her with a big toy she doesn't like...etc. but overall, they do love each other and it is very very sweet.  I am so glad that the age difference between them is not too big since they can grow up close in age and be each other's best friends :).

Ellu's Arts and Crafts

Having time at home with the kiddos has really brought out my creative side :). When I'm free, I am usually searching Pintrest for my next creative idea, and this was one thing I got from there - our very own foosball table made from a used carton of macarnoi and some cloth-hangers, construction paper and sticks. Ellu actually enjoyed playing with it :) Some other things we've created include a Farm House, which was also pretty fun to build with Ellu. I love seeing him play with things we have actually created together and seeing him have fun with it is a thrill. I can see now, along with his interest of trains and reading books, Ellu is also really into crafts....I guess he takes on after his mama!   June 9th: I also wanted to make Eliakim a kite of his own that he could fly when we went to the park. To be honest, I've never had a kite or flown a kite myself, but it was something at the back of my mind I have wanted to try. So we used some items we found aro...

Our Father in Heaven

Matthew 6:9-13 "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.   Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power, for n'ever and n'ever...in Jesus' name, AMEN!" ~ Eliakim Eliakim has been learning to pray since he was very little. And this year, he actually memorized the Lord's Prayer which I was really happy about. We prayed it every night with him before bed, and one day all of a sudden he just said it and I was blown away because I didn't realize that he actually knew it by heart! Now, he prays before he eats and sleeps, and he's gotten very good at praying on his own. One really great resource that I believe has benefited us is Bible Adventures for Kids . They have great Bible stories for kids and some r...
